web addicts
Laura McAlister, web editor
Being a news junkie, I have three sites I must go to daily, and typically always in this order: al.com, foxnews.com and nytimes.com. I get my local fix then I move onto what’s going on in the rest of the world.

I read somewhere that your media consumption should mirror your dietary intake in that it should be balanced and good for you. But I’ve never been a healthy eater, so my daily web use looks something like this:
Appetizer: cnn.com. It helps me keep up with what’s going on in the world.
Main course: facebook.com. I go through withdrawal if I can’t spend at least an hour a day finding out what’s going on in the lives of close friends, casual acquaintances and random strangers.
Dessert: fashionunder100.net. This is the best bargain shopping site I’ve ever encountered, and browsing it makes me ridiculously happy.

Other than daily checks of my email and credit card balance, I primarily use the Internet to find inspiration for home decorating. My go-to website these days is myhomeideas.com, which combines images, stories and ideas from Southern Progress publications.

Google is my everything—my email, my directions, my calendar and, oh yeah, my search engine. I’ve even got my iGoogle set as my homepage on both my home and work computers, so I can see my email, agenda, breaking news and the latest from the blogs I subscribe to at a glance.
