Vanessa Hudgens
(Aug. 1, 8 p.m.) Is there a word that takes the term multitask to a whole other level? If so, then that’s exactly what Vanessa Hudgens has been doing for the past year. Not only did the 17-year-old star in the movie High School Musical, which inspired a cult-like following, and not to mention a No. 1 selling soundtrack, but she also released her debut solo album, V, in 2006 and will release her second album on July 1. Moon Taxi
(Aug. 1, 9 p.m.) Moon Taxi is a rock quintet hailing from Nashville that synthesizes the elements of progressive rock and improvisation/jam with a grandiose mixture of folk and jazz. A Moon Taxi show offers incendiary dueling guitar work over an impenetrable and pounding rhythm section, only to be topped off with delicious vocal harmonies. With Right Action Figures. Disney’s Beauty and the Beast

Birmingham Folk Festival
(Aug. 2, 9 a.m.-10 p.m.) The Birmingham Folk Festival, formerly known as the Compound Folk Festival, had its beginning during the summer of 2006. The Compound Folk Festival was held at a small farm in Hoover, lovingly referred to as “The Compound.” This year’s festival will feature folk and bluegrass musicians with headliners The New Familiars, a children’s area, food vendors, a “rush tent” for musicians to meet and greet, recreational activities and work by local artists. Dog Daze

Def Leppard
